| Vladimir Vlasenko visits his ancestor's grave at Sandbostel Deeply moved and impressed was the Russian citizen Vladimir Vlasenko by the work of the Bremervoerde Memorial and Documentation Association in drawing up the history of the former POW Camp Stalag XB. Born in 1949 as grandson of the Soviet POW Timofeij Grigoriewitsch Vlasenko, he works nowadays at Nowgorod as manager of the Russian Natural Gas Providing Coy. "Gasprom". Though it was known to the Vlasenko family since decades, that Thimotiej G. V. did die as prisoner-of-war, it was only in July 2003, that the official confirmation of his death on 040244 in Stalag XB was given by the Russian Ministry of War. TGV was seen last by friends in 1941, at this time a POW already, with severe frost-bite on hands and feet. TGV died in the age of 44 years at Sandbostel. During his visit in the Bremervoerde Documentation Centre at Grosser Platz, his grandson was now very impressed by the presentations there, showing history and reality of the former POW Camp at Sandbostel. |
